Just when the dust raised by the Dasukigate was about to die down, the Ekitigate arrived, raising so many questions requiring urgent answers. We Nigerians in our typical manner will still move on from this, it's just part of us.
Our former president has made a good name for himself, but I'm afraid that all these accusations flying left, right and centre are mudslinging the good name and questioning his integrity. The campaigns are over. GEJ Is probably never going to run for the presidency again, unless he takes cue from his successor. Why are they trying to give the dog a bad name to hang it? Is GEJ guilty of all these crimes? Did he let all these happen under his watch? If he did, the ICC is the best place for his trial. I can't bring myself to think that all these crimes against humanity were committed under the leadership of my most esteemed president. Don't we deserve answers from GEJ? Are we supposed to wait until he is formally accused by the EFCC?
The accusations leveled against Mr. Ayo Fayose, the Ekiti state governor by Mr. Tope Aluko, last night on Channels TV are grave and I'm quite certain that we'll be hearing from Mr. Fayos before today runs out. It's definitely going to be a bitter war of words with we, the ordinary citizens forming the spectators, watching, cheering and booing, laughing and shaking our heads, creating memes and having fun... all to our detriment! Life goes on!
We, the Nigerians deserve better! Nigeria as a country deserve better. We deserve good governance, accountability and transparency. We deserve leaders, not rulers. We deserve selfless service and not selfishness. We must demand all these as a matter of right and not privilege. We must put an end to this show of shame!
